OF KITH AND KIN is the fourth book in this sci-fi series, but it can be read as a stand-alone piece. I haven't read the previous volumes but had no trouble piecing together the story, as the author does a spectecular job providing background information throughout.
The plot contains lots of twists, which will hold the readers' attention. But beware, while this book can be read without the prior volumes, it will leave readers anticipating the next, as the ending leaves several new unanswered questions and introduces new plot elements.
Great book for anyone interested in the possibility of alien life and readers who like intricate plot lines.
