Pulled Me In

Of Kith and Kin (Chronicles of the Threlphax Book 4) by Laura Lee Dooley pulled me in with its unusual mix of family, mystery, romance, and science fiction. The story centers on Tae-hee and her long-lost twin Tae-soo, who returns decades later in another man's body and now goes by Kit. Tae-hee's struggle to believe that this unfamiliar man could really be her brother adds an emotional layer to an already intriguing mystery.

I especially enjoyed Kit's growing connection with Jong-hyun Park and the warmth of KSH House, where found family becomes just as important as blood relations. As the secrets surrounding the threlphax begin to unfold, the personal relationships give the larger supernatural story its heart.

Laura Lee Dooley does a lovely job bringing together identity, belonging, love, and sacrifice. If you enjoy character-driven sci-fi with paranormal elements, found family, and an unexpected romance, Of Kith and Kin is definitely worth exploring.
